Bioactive compound retention in frozen red and yellow Strawberry guava pulps added with L-Ascorbic acid Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Vergara,Lisiane Pintanela; Reissig,Gabriela Niemeyer; Franzon,Rodrigo Cezar; Rodrigues,Rosane da Silva; Chim,Josiane Freitas.
Abstract Brazil presents a great variety of native fruits, which have aroused commercial interest, such as the strawberry guava. In this sense, many researches have looked for alternatives that allow postharvest availability of fruits, considering that perishability is a limiting factor for its commercialization. The freezing process is an important alternative in the sense of making these fruits available for longer on the market. The use of L-ascorbic acid is a potent protective agent in the stability of bioactive compounds in fruit pulps. The objective of this study was to evaluate potentially bioactive compounds present in red and yellow strawberry guava pulps added with L-ascorbic acid (1% m / m) and verify its effect on retention of these compounds...

ABSTRACT: Native fruits are economically important to small producers, and they are a important part of the diet of several communities. Therefore, postharvest studies of these fruits are essential. In addition, research involving their chemical composition can identify substances that add potential value to the fruits, especially from a nutritional and medicinal standpoint. This study characterized the fruits of the muricizeiro shrub (Byrsonima crassifolia, Malpighiaceae), which were harvested from native plants on private properties and stored for 16 days at a mean temperature of 12 °C. The fruits were evaluated during storage for: 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity, ascorbic acid content, phenolics and carotenoids total,...

Diagnosis of extractivism, processing and marketing of products from butia plantations in Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) ExtensaoRural
Ambrosini, Larissa Bueno; Roldan, Bruna Bresolin; Bremm, Carolina; Kroeff, Denise Reif.
Brazil is home to 37 genera of palm trees that participate in the ecologicalbalance of different biomes. In the southern region there is a genus of palm tree, Butia spp., which has eight species, and is threatened with extinction. Butiá extractivism, through management that allows its rational exploration, can be an alternative to encourage its preservation. The aim of this article is to present a diagnosis of the extraction of butia plant in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, providing systematized data about this reality. The first stage of the research consisted of a survey on thenumber of properties that have areas of butia groves throughout the state, through Emater-RS. Based on these data, it was possible to define a statistically representative sample,...

Leaf area estimation of Anacardium humile Rev. Bras. Frutic.
Gomes,Francielly Rodrigues; Silva,Danielle Fabíola Pereira da; Ragagnin,Angelita Lorrayne Soares Lima; Souza,Pedro Henrique Magalhães de; Cruz,Simério Carlos Silva.
Abstract The Anacardium humile A. St.- Hil. fruit tree has productive potential, being their fruits appreciated in the Cerrado region for having characteristic flavor, however, this species is still exploited in an extractive way, being necessary studies for its domestication. The aim of this work was to estimate the leaf area of Anacardium humile. One hundred leaves were collected in the biological collection from a genetic resources field and evaluated for length, width and fresh weight, and scanned at resolution of 300 dpi to determine the leaf area with the aid of the ImageJ image analysis program. Subsequently, a leaf disc with a diameter of 22.27 mm was detached at the basal portion of each leaf, in which the fresh weight of the discs was obtained....
